BENDING UNIT
January 2008
Intergraph Plant Design System with SmartPlant® Review

There are times at work when I am off the clock, but still near my desk. It is at times like these that I have been working on my pet project - building Bender in my PDS program. Labeled "BENDING UNIT" in the program's inventory, this re-creation of everyone's favorite drunken robot stands outside of our chemical plant model, just waiting to be discovered by the client who will either smile, or fire me.

As you can see, there are some clipping issues - Bender's fingers go through the girder I built for him - but hey, it's my first time putting together a character in 3D. Cut me some slack. I had a lot of fun making him, so please, enjoy.

Hey, they's pretty impressive for a first try. Probably even a second.

This might be a whole new facet for you.

Probably not, as I imagine most 3D programs are much more complex than PDS. That system allows you to pick cylinders, half-circles, et cetera and shape them to whatever dimensions you specify. Then again, maybe I am being pessimistic, and dumber people than I have mastered the usage of such programs.
