My personal theory about green Pikmin? Glad you asked! I think they have two leaves below their eyes in the shape of Luigi’s moustache, and can camouflage themselves.

the way that pikmin and the captain would be 4 cm tall in real life (that's what the manual in the wii version said) the bulborbs actually could be slugs they're the shape of a slug. A slugs antenna could've evolved into an eye stalk and it could've evolved legs and then all you would need to do would be change the colour and add spots and their you have it. The game is set long after all the humans died so this could happen. Meanwhile in a genetics science lab...
